On December 5, 2018, the Haitian Music Industry was rocked by the announcement: Dener Ceide, a distinguished composer and accomplished musician, and Reginald Cangé, a prominent figure in the Haitian music scene, were set to establish their own musical group: ZAFEM. Two giants of contemporary Haitian music had merged their talents, promising a tidal wave of musical innovation.
Zafèm’s sound is a unique and mesmerizing fusion of kompa, zouk, jazz, soul, funk, and world music, that transcends genres. A remarkable band known for their captivating melodies and heartfelt lyrics, Zafèm explores various Haitian musical rhythms, with nods to traditional music and other regional Caribbean beats.
