Rick Ross: Port Of Miami Pt 2

ALBUM REVIEWS

By Jasmine Minnee

Rick Ross is back in top-notch form with his brand new, highly anticipated album, ‘Port Of Miami 2.’ The project is the second installment in its series, arriving 13 years after his 2006 Platinum album, Port Of Miami. The new project features 15 tracks with a stacked, heavy-hitting lineup of notable guests including Drake, Meek Mill, Lil Wayne, Jeezy, DeJ Loaf, Denzel Curry, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Summer Walker and the late Nipsey Hussle. ‘Port of Miami 2’ had huge standards to live up to and Ross delivered.

Back and better than before, the Maybach Music Group founder maintains a sense of youth in his early 40’s. The project is made up of Miami vibes and “a rags to riches story line”. Rozay shows maturity on this album with songs like  “I Still Pray” ft. YFN Lucci and Ball Greezy, as he reflects on being found unresponsive last year and even shares his thoughts on the current stance of his healthcare on the track “Vegas Residency”:

Another seizure, so I woke up in intensive care/Pray you treat a poor man like he was a millionaire.

Miami’s Teflon Don provides tracks that you can cruise down the highway listening to such as “Summer Reign”  ft. Summer Walker, “White Lines,” “Act A Fool” ft Wale, and “Rich N*gga Lifestyle” ft. the late Nipsey Hussle and Teyana Taylor. “Running The Streets” Ft. Denzel Curry and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie is another banger as Curry and Rozay trade illuminating verses accompanied by a solid hook from A Boogie. Rick Ross and Meek Mill team up for “Bogus Charms” and the combination of Ross and Meek talking about loyalty, hits different.

Ricky Rozay didn’t let fans down with his latest album, in fact, it showcases his growth, reflection, and understanding of not only the industry but life. The boss gives listeners the classic Ross feel, a track-list with so much versatility while staying in his lane; a mature artist yet keeping a youthful mindset. ‘Port Of Miami 2’ is a solid 8/10 stars.
