A night celebrating the life & legacy of Juanra Fernández – the cultural entrepreneur who changed the culture at the legendary Nuyorican Cafe. Join us for music, storytelling, culture, and community. With a live Salsa Jam Band incorporating many artists from different musical projects. 

No cover fee required, but donation of $10 recommended to support the artists.

Juanra Fernández was passionate about life, a tireless cultural manager, mentor of young talents, lover of poetry, futbol, and salsa, and a fervent defender of social justice.

With his life partner, Gwen Harvey, he founded the Nuyorican Café in 2001, an urban refuge that vibrated with the energy of emerging artists and legendary icons from all corners of Puerto Rico, New York, and beyond.

For more than 15 years, the café was the birthplace of musical projects such as the Comborican Jam Band, and a showcase for artists such as Pirulo, Willito Otero and Kalani Trinidad. Fernández, more than a producer, was a sower of the future.
