Hip-Hop Photographer Mel D. Cole Goes To Rome
October 25, 2019
From photographing Drake, Kendrick, Common and Questlove to shooting Italian football club AS Roma, this mini-documentary follows the story of how Mel D. Cole, one of hip-hop’s most famous photographers, ended up in the Italian capital. Though hip-hop will always be the native New Yorker’s first passion, somewhere along the road in his career, between covering concerts and festivals, Mel fell in love with the beautiful game. Now he embarks on a new journey to shoot his first international football match in Rome, giving his unique perspective behind the camera lens, where he’s able to merge his prowess for photography with his love of the game.
He recounts how he first got his start taking photos at a Common concert at SOBs, and the rest is history…
