Gil Scott-Heron, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winner, was a longtime friend and performer of S.O.B.’s, first taking the stage in 1991. In his later years, S.O.B.’s founder Larry Gold managed Gil’s career. His legacy is that of a musical and poetic genius, with spoken word over driving beats — humor-laced, sharp critiques of politics, racism and mass media — that made him a global voice of protest for decades. S.O.B.’s will always honor the legacy of Gil Scott, and will never let that legacy fade, despite how much time may pass. We invite you to honor him with us, and support our mission to keep his name fresh in the minds of all who care about music, art, and activism.
ABOUT LIV.E – Liv.e (pronounced “Liv”) is a genre-defying singer, songwriter, and producer known for her experimental blend of R&B, soul, jazz, and hip-hop. Originally from Dallas, Texas, she emerged as a standout voice in alternative R&B with a distinct lo-fi aesthetic and freeform approach to songwriting. Her music is characterized by hazy, dreamlike production, unconventional song structures, and deeply introspective lyrics that explore themes of self-discovery, love, and personal growth. Drawing influence from artists like SA-RA, Georgia Anne Muldrow, D’Angelo, and Madlib, Liv.e seamlessly fuses neo-soul with psychedelic and hip-hop elements, crafting a sound that feels both nostalgic and futuristic.
ABOUT PINK SIIFU: Since releasing his debut album Ensely in 2018, Siifu has crafted a discography that plumbs both the outer limits of Black expression and its most traversed regions. As much a student of Sun Ra as Kanye West, Pink Siifu is a searcher, his solo projects hopping from Ensely’s soulfulness to the hellish noise-punk of 2020’s Negro, followed by 2021’s excellent, Dungeon Family-indebted Gumbo’!. Throughout his wanderings, Siifu enlists collaborators who help challenge and sharpen him, sharing full-length collaborations with MCs like Ahwlee (as B. Cool Aid), Fly Anakin, Turich Benjy, and YUNGMORPHEUS, and packing his solo albums with daring MCs, singers, and producers.
ABOUT LIIM: Harlem-based artist Liim is known for his distinctive sound that blends melodic rap, R&B, and alternative music. He has quickly garnered a following through his numerous singles, collaborations with Brooklyn-rapper Opraah, and On The Radar performances. His debut EP, Petty Pete, was released at the tail end of 2024, and only marks the beginning for Liim’s rising status.
