Sonido Solar is one of the most exciting new bands to hit the music scene. Their high-energy music brings together the danceable rhythms of salsa and Afro-Caribbean music, tasteful arrangements, and world-class improvisation. Their debut album, “Eddie Palmieri Presents Sonido Solar,” topped radio charts and received international acclaim. Downbeat Magazine rated the album at a stellar 4.5 out of 5 stars: “In their hands, the tradition feels both safe and newly invigorated… the rising of the next sun.”

Sonido Solar was co-founded by Louis Fouché, Jonathan Powell, Luques Curtis, and Zaccai Curtis, all of whom have performed with and been mentored by 10-time Grammy winner and Latin music legend Eddie Palmieri. The name “Sonido Solar” translates to “Solar Sound” and is a tribute to Palmieri, known as “The Sun of Latin Music.” Palmieri is featured on their debut album as a special guest on two tracks.
