Three of Barbès Records recording artists will help celebrate the release of Hazmat Modine's Bahamut. Las Rubias del Norte, Slavic Soul Party and Hazmat Modine will each play their own brand of locally based global music.

Barbès Records is a new label associated with the Brooklyn club of the same name. Its mission, which mirrors that of the club, is to present music that strikes a happy balance between tradition and innovation.

- Slavic Soul Party writes new brass band music, influenced by Balkan traditions and informed by Jazz, funk, and Mexican music.

- Las Rubias del Norte re-interpret famous and obscure Latin-American numbers – fascinated both by 30’s and 40’s popular music and contemporary cultures still attuned to their roots.

- Hazmat Modine plays a global take on Americana : its harmonica-driven music owes as much to pre-war blues as it does the many musical traditions a New Yorker might be exposed to.
