Leela
James is a throwback to an earlier era of American soul music,
building upon the legacy of 1960s and 1970s soul singers while
incorporating elements of contemporary R&B, funk, and gospel.
In the lyrics her single, entitled "Music," James
laments the current state of contemporary popular music. James
has been described as an 'old soul' making music in today's
contemporary scene; a welcome change from what has become standard
fair.
Throughout her career James has earned the respect and heartfelt praise from
her contemporaries. With collaborations with the likes of Kanye West, Wyclef
Jean, Raphael Saadiq & most recently the legendary Ray Charles who hand picked
Leela to duet with him on his album Genius & Friends.
The demand for Leela has been so strong that two consecutive nights had
to be scheduled. September 10th and 11th promise to be memorable nights at the
legendary S.O.B.'s with a soulful chanteuse taking the stage and serenading fan
old and new.
