Beginning
Wednesday, July 30th, SPECTRUM FUNK, a new monthly party featuring
artist and TV/Radio personality, Amanda Diva and special invited
guests (This month: DJ SPINNA, JAMES WATTS, and LYDIA
CAESAR) lights up the stage at S.O.B.’s. Combining live
music and live painting with mixes by the cities the hottest
DJs, Diva plans to brighten up the summer with the SPECTRUM
FUNK Series.
You can hear the music outside as you walk up. The folks
on line look like bags of skittles, their attire reflecting
the energy of these gatherings. BRIGHT! See,
at the Spectrum everyone's got that glow, not just the artists
on stage. When you walk in, the spot is packed with folks
drinking and noddin' their heads to the boom bap of the live
band backing R&B chanteuse LYDIA CAESAR. You move
through the crowd to the bar and hear the familiar voice of
Amanda Diva on the mic thanking the artist for blessing the
Spectrum with some vibrant sounds and seamlessly guiding the
crowd from spectators to groove makers as DJ SPINNA does a
cut and drops the kind of record that makes you put your drink
down so you can GET down! The room comes alive! Live
painters color their canvases with vivid brush strokes to the
rhythm of the beat. Ladies do the wop. Homies actually
dance WITH them! The room feels like a radiant canvas
of positive vibes. The theme, bringing to life the colors
of soul through live music and dope djs. The event, Spectrum
FUNK!
