Jazz is the art of expression set to Music ! Jazz
is said to be
the fundamental rhythms of human life and man's contemporary
reassessment of his traditional values. Jazz is
freedom !!!! Over the years, Haiti has been home to many
great
Jazzmusicians, with the dominance
of Konpa Music, many haitians have sort of ignored this evolving Jazz movement. Although
there are a great percentage of Haitians in Haiti, and abroad
that are very fond of Jazz music and have shown serious support
for the Haitian Jazz Movement and
the musicians who have dedicated their lives and craft to playing
Jazz music.
Rewind
three years, back to Sunday October 9th 2005, SOBS was the
first venue and presenters who took the lead and initiative
to invest in the "FIRST HAITIAN JAZZ FESTIVAL IN
THE WORLD" !!!! We presented basically the strongest line
up of Haitian Artists for that First haitian jazz festival. From
Reginald Policard// Mushi Widmaiier// Beethova Obas// Emeline
Michel// Mozayik// Buyu Ambroise//Eddy Prophete// Jowee Omicil//
and Special Honorary guest: Wyclef jean who is an official
member of the Board of Directors Haitian Jazz Festival Committee
!!! and to no surprise, the show was completely sold out, with
a line of fans wrapped around the corner wanting
to attend the show. Since that evening, we have'nt stopped
investing in the movement, we took it to Miami and that was
also a proven success. But this year, we are back in New York
again where it all started, right here at SOBS your safe home
of Universal Music. On Sunday June 22nd,
We are bringing you
a very special evening with the legendary "REGINALD POLICARD" FOUNDER
OF THE ALL TIME FAMOUS GROUP "CARIBBEAN SEXTET" all
the way from HAITI WITH HIS GROUP INCLUSIVE OF THE LEGENDARY "JOEL
WIDMAIIER" RICHARD BARBOT" & AZOR " so you
can only imagine the level of Music that we are in for. Also
on the bill is: RIGAUD SIMON: One of the most prolific bassist
in the community, Rigaud has worked with practically everyone
in the business, from Emeline Michel To New York All Stars
etc....Rigaud has done it, as a very accomplished bassist,
Rigaud will team up with his good friend and musical genius "EDDY
BRISSEAUX" to bring you a special Haitian Jazz show. Then,
of course we must represent the ladies, so we are bringing
you the talented Haitian American Jazz singer "PAULINE
JEAN" a well known jazz singer in New York, Pauline plays
at the Blue Note, Iridium etc... this is her first show in
the haitian community, and of course, on the 1s and 2s will
be the one and only "JEPHTE GUILLAUME/ MUSICIAN/PRODUCER
AND DJ/ so don't miss out on this show !!!! It's an evening
