SOBs is New York’s premier destination for Brazilian music & has been since its doors opened in 1982. Without the music and people of Brazil there is no SOBs. The clubs original meaning was 'Sounds Of Brazil' and was initially founded due to the absence of Brazilian music in the Metropolis.

Over its 28+ year history, SOBs has been host to some of the most legendary acts in Brazilian music. With such talents as Seu Jorge, Chico Cesar, Jorge Ben Jor and Astrud Gilberto making the list, SOBs’ history of past performers spans the great spectrum of Brazilian genres. These artists have represented the rich and diverse musical culture of Brazil.

In addition to highlighting such renowned artists, SOBs is also home to up and coming, breakthrough talents. By showcasing such new talents as Luisa Maita and Jair Oliveira, SOBs has continued to highlight the sounds of contemporary Brazilian music.
