The time has come! One of the most widely celebrated trumpet players, Alexander Abreu, and his Grammy-nominated band, Habana D’Primera, return to S.O.B.’s for two nights, June 5 and June 6!
Abreu is often compared to legends such as Louis Armstrong. Four years ago, he pulled together an ensemble of seasoned musicians-- who played alongside some of the best bands of the golden age of contemporary Cuban salsa and timba --to form Habana D’Primera. Concerned with the decline of Afro-Cuban dance music on its home turf, Abreu decided to pick up the standard once carried around the globe by the very bands he had played with, such as Paulito FG y Su Elite and Isaac Delgado. Habana D’Primera is now considered today’s top contemporary Cuban band. Their latest album Pasaporte is currently a huge international hit, gaining wide acclaim in both North and South America.
The music is nothing short of phenomenal. Doors for both shows will open at 8PM and shows will begin at 9:30PM
